Worm food terraria

What is Worm Food Used For?

Similar to the Voodoo Doll, Worm Food terraria  is used to spawn a certain boss – the Eater of Worlds. The Eater of Worlds is a pre-hardmode boss spawned in the Corruption.

Spawning the Eater of Worlds is simple. You must be in the corruption at any time of the day (knowing how to make it night isn’t necessary as it is with other bosses) and have a hammer, explosives, or Worm Food with you.

Destroying 3 Shadow Orbs found in the underground Corruption will spawn the Eater of Worlds. It’s worth noting that Shadow Orbs are a finite resource. To destroy these Shadow Orbs, you must use any hammer or explosive.

There are many benefits to defeating the Eater of Worlds. Beating this boss is the only way to obtain Shadow Scales in Terraria, as well as being one of the few ways to acquire large amounts of Demonite ore at a time.

The Eater of Worlds is a worm-like boss of many segments – each of these segments with separate health bars. To defeat this boss, all segments must be killed. Each segment drops a small amount of Demonite ore, and when the entire entity is defeated, a larger amount will drop.

Tips for Defeating the Eater of Worlds

The Eater of Worlds is a large, multi-segmented boss, meaning that attempting to dodge it may prove a challenge. Therefore, full preparation is recommended in order to compensate for the extra damage from not dodging.

Due to the fact that there is typically a large underground cave in the Corruption, little block breaking is generally required. However, it is still good practice to take explosives to the Corruption caves to ensure maximum space is made (since ebonstone blocks cannot be mined with any pre-hardmode pickaxe).

Once you’ve cleared space with the explosives, it’s best to make multiple layers of platforms, going across the entirety of the space made. The vertical difference between each platform layer should be 4 or 5 tiles – low enough to default jump onto.
