Eastchase may have a lot of restaurants, but Risha Momin says they don’t have anything like this.

Momin is bringing the Atlanta-based Pita Mediterranean Street Food chain to the bustling east Montgomery shopping center. The restaurant will offer handmade falafels, salad, hummus and sauces along with signature shawarma and gyro sandwiches. Prices vary a bit, but a pita and side costs about $7 at other locations.

The key to success is what goes in them. “It’s the quality of the food, the freshness,” Momin said. “(The restaurant) is very passionate about the quality.”

The chain has expanded quickly since opening the original spot in Atlanta five years ago and now has more than two dozen locations, including one in Clanton.

Momin, the local franchisee, lives in Pike Road and runs a Dairy Queen in Tallassee. She’s been looking for the right location in Montgomery for a while. Now, she thinks she’s found it: 8735 Eastchase Parkway, near Academy Sports. They plan to open late next month. “We’re blessed,” she said.

They’re tentatively planning to operate 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday with more limited hours each Sunday. “Every market is different, so we’ll have to see,” she said. She hopes to hire 20 to 25 people.
