International Food Club

The International Food Club aims to celebrate different cultures through food. Weekly gatherings consist of eating various cuisines, playing games, and having fun discussions. Past food samples have included macaroons from France and salted egg crackers from Taiwan. Beyond school meetings, we have organized trips to food festivals.

Won Ton House (1300 Wellington St. W.)

This family-owned Chinese spot on Wellington Street West has been in operation since 1975. The restaurant is considered home and customers are part of the family, naturally leading to stand-out service and top-notch food. All dishes are cooked to order in the traditional Szechuan style and new menu items are added regularly. We recommend the Special Won Ton Soup that includes succulent pork strips, whole shrimp, and to-die-for, plump wonton dumplings.

Giovanni’s Restaurant (362 Preston St.)

Giovanni’s has been operating for more than 30 years. Founders Lisa and Guiseppe wanted to bring their love of Italy to Ottawa and did they ever succeed. Authentic Italian dishes made with fresh veggies, seafood and the highest of quality meats are topped off with quality service that makes you feel like part of the family.

Blue Nile Ethiopian (707 Gladstone Ave.)

Blue Nile Ethiopian is a quaint, little spot that puts the focus on big, homestyle flavours. You’ll find all the traditional Ethiopian dishes you can imagine like sambusa and every type of wot you can imagine. There are just as many vegetarian options as there are meat options, so it is great for all to enjoy. All platters are served in a laid back, traditional style, with enjera bread which you use to scoop up your food instead of utensils.

C’est Japon À Suisha (208 Slater St.)

When it comes to high-class Japanese food in Ottawa, it doesn’t get any better than C’est Japon À Suisha. The eatery has called its spot on Slater home for over 40 years and, with its private room option, is the perfect setting for a romantic date or intimate get together. From their top notch sushi to their bubbling hot and flavourful shabu shabu, this place is a must-try for everyone in the city.
