Shokugeki no Soma (Food Wars) follows the story of 15-year-old Souma Yukihira and his dream of running his family’s restaurant someday as the head chef. At first, running the Yukihira Diner family restaurant was his only dream, but then, his dad goads him into enrolling in Tootsuki Culinary Academy—the most elite culinary school, where only 10% of the student body graduates! For Souma, it’s a CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! No matter how difficult or extreme the circumstances may be, such is the life of someone who’s going to become the best of the best chefs in the world! Thus, Souma’s dream evolved into a much grander dream—to learn everything about food and cooking and finally become a world-class chef!

Cooking Master Boy
As old as it may be, Cooking Master Boy is one of the trailblazers of cooking/food anime. As a matter of fact, it’s one of its own genre that may have been the first for many people. And so, it’s not surprising that it garnered so much attention in the past. I mean, for a cooking/food anime, this show surely doesn’t disappoint!
In the 19th century of China during the reign of the Qing dynasty, the “Era of the Cooking Wars” was at its peak! In this era, a boy named Mao rises to hone his cooking skills and become an authority in cooking just like his late mother who was popularly known as the “Fairy of Cuisine.” And so, Mao travels around China in order to study and learn the various ways of cooking and ultimately become a legendary chef of his own caliber!
Yakitate!! Japan
If you’re wondering when FOODGASM began in anime, then Yakitate!! Japan might tell you the answer! This show actually embodies the word “Foodgasm!” And by that, I meant that this show is capable of making people drool endlessly, voraciously wanting to eat the food presented (well in this case, BREAD). Heavenly bread-tasting, orgasmic eating sensation, and exaggerated after-taste expressions—all of these you’ll witness in this anime!
Azuma Kazuma isn’t just any ordinary kid! He possesses the unique peculiarity called the “Solar Hands.” With this peculiarity, his hands are warmer than any ordinary human. And with this, his bread-making prowess is up on a much higher level! At first, Azuma didn’t really like bread. But after discovering the wonders of bread and the process of making it, he undertakes a quest where joining “Pantasia” and creating the legendary bread known as “Ja-Pan” are his goals!
Koufuku Graffiti
Love that feel-good sensation you get whenever you eat delectable food or at least see someone eating? Well, not only will you feel good with the food presented in Koufuku Graffiti but you’ll also feel good with the overall “feel good” atmosphere of the show. It’s a refreshing slice-of-life/food anime after all so it’s to be anticipated!
